Very soon, we will be doing business in another century, but the year 2000 is not the only problem that brokers face.

As even the most computer-phobic broker would have noticed, the fact
that in 18 months time we will all be transacting business in another
century, has caused some major problems in the IT industry. Systems that
work happily today could "fall over" or, probably worse, provide wrong
results, if they are left unchanged.


The bottom line problem is that most computer systems only held two
character positions for the year, so that 1980 (around the time when many
systems were written) is stored as 80
