Brokers that are members of the General Insurance Standards Council
will be in a good position to apply for authorisation from the Financial
Services Authority, the FSA has confirmed. In an open letter to the GISC,
John Tiner, managing director of the Consumer, Investment and Insurance
Directorate, wrote: "Those firms that are in compliance with GISC rules
should expect to be in a good position to transition to statutory
regulation under the FSA."
