North Yorkshire broker Hathaway & Cope has been sold to David Ransley, former account executive for north England at Sterling Hamilton Wright.

Ransley will retain H&C's three staff and continue the company's mix of commercial and personal lines. Ransley hopes to win further delegated authority in areas such as private motor. Former H&C owner Dennis Cope plans to focus on sister company Northern Underwriters.
