The public vastly underestimates the costs of operations, according to a new study by Norwich Union Healthcare.The survey found that there is a startling difference between the perceived and actual costs of having common operations done privately. Two out of three people thought a cataract operation would cost less than the actual figure of £2400.
Over 60% believe that a hysterectomy costs less than £3000, when in fact it costs £3500. About 30% of respondents thought a hernia operation costs
