Paul Inskip reflects upon the days surrounding the Independent's fall from grace and the lessons all concerned in the mopping-up process cannot afford to ignore.

There is nothing like a crisis to focus the mind. Such was the case
when the Independent bombshell dropped. Perhaps it is time to take stock
of what happened and how we responded.


When the crisis broke on 14th June, I was two weeks away from joining Road
Runner as general manager. Only days before I joined, the team had
discussed the need for a crisis plan for major disruptions - the almost
instant collapse of one our major carriers was not envisaged.
