The Treasury has confirmed that the Insurance Brokers RegistrationCouncil will still exist after 31 October , the date on which the present
council will wind down its activities.
A spokeswoman for the Treasury said: "As long as the Insurers Brokers
Registration Act remains on the statute books, there will need to be a
regulatory council for those who wish to continue to be known as
brokers.
However, we are still in discussions with the IBRC and its representatives
regarding this matter."
