On the whole any industry is better off not ruffling the political
masters' feathers and most only come to their attention when something has
gone horribly wrong. In such cases, the conclusion tends to be unwanted -
as in the switch of general insurance regulation to the Financial Services
Authority. This was surely a consequence of attracting too much
attention.
