Software firms bullish despite pressure

Katherine Brandon surveys the larger software houses to see how they are coping following some mega-deals over the past few years

Results from PB's latest Sentiment Survey (see pp.38-44) showed that 69% of the broker managers polled are considering cutting their costs as the result of the recession. Information technology is one area in which many brokers may look to cut back but, despite this, the major software houses are all confident about their profits for 2009, predicting continued growth - which is perhaps surprising in a market that is arguably shrinking.
