Fortis UK has reported overall gross written premium in the first quarter of 2005 of £142.5m, £1.5m less than GWP in Q1 2004.

Fortis blamed pressure on pricing in the private motor sector - on which it is still heavily reliant - for the slippage, recording a GWP of £93m compared with £100m in the first quarter 2004.
