The Financial Services Skills Council has launched in Wales. Its main aims are to increase productivity through the development of skills, particularly for small businesses, and ensuring the views of Welsh employers are represented to influence UK strategy on education and training. There are currently around 1800 financial service firms operating in Wales. Michelle Sayers had been appointed national manager for Wales, based in Cardiff.
