Q: Am I right in thinking the cost of my company car and that of my
co-directors is going to go up?


A: The turning point in the way that employees and directors are taxed on
their company cars, is 6 April 2002.


The current system of calculating car benefits in kind is to be replaced
by one based entirely on the CO2 emission levels of the vehicle.


The taxable benefit will be a percentage of the original list price of the
car and will range from 15% for fuel efficient cars to 35% for gas
guzzlers.
