The Financial Services Authority is considering the needs of smallbrokers and will seek to ensure regulation is proportionate and does not
drive them out, according to the FSA's head of policy Dr Eleanor
Linton.
Dr Linton addressed fears that around 1200 small brokers could disappear
during the next two years due to the burden of regulation in the
compliance update seminar. She said the FSA valued small brokers, which
are good for competition and market diversity and act as niche
markets.
She said:
