Fortis Insurance UK saw a 16% increase in its overall gross written premium for the first quarter of 2004 to £144m. In the small to medium-sized enterprise commercial market, GWP was up 54% to £12m. Barry Smith, chief executive of Fortis UK, said: "We are continuing to broaden our presence across all our product range, with significant increases in the SME commercial market and continued strong underlying performance on household."
