Owners of caravans are often passionate about their cherished vehicles. Caroline Duncan says that brokers, on the other hand, have traditionally been less enthusiastic about this class of business.
It was not so long ago that brokers were complaining that it wasdifficult to place a caravan risk. Very poor claims experience in the late
80s burnt the fingers of a number of insurers, and many ceased writing
stand-alone caravan business altogether. However, 10 years on, the market
has a rather different complexion, with a number of players vying for the
