Overheard travelled to Wales last month for the BIIBA conference and
was alarmed to hear about all the problems that delegates experienced with
their accommodation. The most popular hotel in Cardiff was, not
surprisingly, BIIBA's HQ The Marriott, which quickly filled up with broker
bookings. However, booking early was no guarantee of success, as several
brokers found when they attempted to check in at the start of the
conference.

FSCS gives first insight on increasing levy to £394m

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has indicated its levy for 2025/26 will rise to £394m from £265m this financial year as it cited having lower surpluses to carry forward and offset bills – a factor that has benefited brokers for two years in a row.
