Small brokers are in danger of becoming a threatened species in the Birmingham area and the West Midlands, according to Charles Earle, NIG's managing director of commercial lines. Speaking at the fourth NIG Business Academy in Birmingham in early July, Earle told an audience of brokers and SME managers that broker consolidation was accelerating and leading to the demise of many small brokers in the area.
