Lloyd's insurer Amlin has recorded a net loss after tax of £67m for
2001, compared to a loss in 2000 of £19.1m. The company said the operating
loss of £53.9m for continuing operations, assuming a long-term investment
return (2000 loss of £3.5m) would have been an operating profit of £10m
but for the World Trade Center attacks. The financial loss incurred as a
result of 11 September was estimated at £63.9m.
