Broker Direct has started recruiting new shareholders, a year later
than the proposed date for inviting new brokers to trade with the
broker-only insurance service company.


The company started trading in July 1997 with approximately 700 brokers,
which had each invested £3500 into the operation. At the time, Broker
Direct said that it would start recruiting new brokers in the first
quarter of 1998.


Neil Harris, insurance director of Broker Direct, told PB: "There are two
reasons why we delayed
