An Englishman's home may be his castle but his shed is fast becominga treasure chest for thieves. Outbuildings are lucrative targets, in which
valuable items such as tools, furniture, bikes, sports equipment and even
computers are stored. The rise in thefts from outbuildings is highlighting
their underinsurance and causing problems for brokers.
The 2000 British Crime Survey published details on reported thefts from
outbuildings and gardens. It showed there were around 5000 thefts a day,
