Loss adjusters are taking advantage of the latest developments in technology, arming themselves with Palm Pilots, digital cameras and Tablet PCs to facilitate a quicker, more efficient service. Steve Banner explains.

A warehouse that has burned to the ground is probably a lot less
trouble to a loss adjuster than one that has only been partly
destroyed.


In the latter case, some of the goods will have gone up in flames but much
of the rest will have suffered varying degrees of water and smoke damage.
Part of the contents may have come to no harm at all and the state of all
the items will have to be assessed and recorded - a painstaking and
time-consuming process.
