A Commercial Union survey has revealed that 94% of the public believe
that all tradesmen who carry out serious repairs or structural work should
be required by law to supply a written guarantee of workmanship. 52% of
those surveyed also expressed a concern that the repair or home
improvement might be 'bodged'.

The survey was carried out by Skillbase which has dealt with over 5500
domestic claims worth £5.5m.
