Competition among commercial lines software providers is now fierce. Simon Threadgold compares the growing number of quotation systems available for selling package shop insurance.
It was Gilt Edge, Quotel's quotation system, which opened brokers'eyes to the possibilities of commercial packages going over to electronic
trading. It has been up and running for over two years, and has begun to
take hold.
Rival systems comparing product features, as well as price, are now being
rolled out by other software houses. This development has been brought
about by fears that packages could become a wholly price-dominated
marketplace.
Neither brokers nor insurers want a price war. And
