Brokers in the UK have yet to make their web-presence felt in the private medical insurance market. They should follow the US lead, says Leslie Smith, and leap into the benefits of cyberspace.

Over the past five years, major new internet players have emerged in
the financial services market such as Etrade, Charles Schwab, Interactive
Investor and many others. Charles Schwab alone now handles over five
million private client accounts worldwide with the majority having
internet trading accounts.


Following on from these giant financial services sites came the
insurers.


Major brand names in health insurance such as Bupa, PPP and Norwich Union
have all developed a web presence in order to sell
