With all eyes in the broker market on the much-publicised CGU and Norwich Union merger, Ken Wallace, intermediary business director at NU, is in the spotlight. He talks to Tim Collison about the practicalities of reorganising the new company.

To say that the broker market has been watching the merger of Norwich
Union and CGU with keen interest would be something of an
understatement.


The mess General Accident and Commercial Union made of recruitment/claims
handling during its merger, and the anger whipped up over NU's dual
pricing has meant the two companies have had to tread very carefully to
avoid upsetting brokers and ensure they are not seen to be getting the
merger wrong. One false move and the cries of "falling service standards"
