Regulation dominates.

In unprecidented fashion, the CII made a last minute change to its conference agenda this year to include a topical session on broker regulation. David Worsfold listened to the arguments.

This year's conference saw CII director general David Bland strongly
endorse the proposals for broker regulation. He urged brokers to join
NewRo to "establish a level playing field for all sales of general
insurance as a minimum. Then offer a lot more to your customers by
presenting yourself as a professional individual in a professionally
orientated firm".


In order to encourage this, Dr Bland said the CII would "like to offer
people the chance, individually, to became Chartered Insurance Brokers
