Brokers must submit applications to the Financial Services Authorityby mid-July 2004 to be authorised in time for the new regime, according to
Tim Howarth, FSA manager of high-street firms. Brokers that delay could
miss the 14 January 2005 deadline and be forced to suspend business until
they are authorised. Brokers should also be aware that the FSA will decide
whether to accept or reject applications by 13 July and those that fail to
provide the required information will not be considered.
