The private health insurance market has been cleared ofanti-competitive behaviour, following the publication of a report by the
Office of Fair Trading. However, major insurers BUPA and PPP have been
told to take immediate action to clarify policyholders rights.
The inquiry was launched following complaints, primarily from private
hospitals and consultants, regarding the operation of BUPA and PPP
hospital networks, vertical integration, the negotiation of hospital
charges, BUPA's Consultant
