The Chartered Insurance Institute is aiming to introduce chartered
insurance broker status by the beginning of 2001. However, the launch
cannot go ahead until the Insurance Brokers Registration Act has been
repealed and the Privy Council has granted approval.


The institute is still to confirm what examinations a candidate will have
to pass in order to qualify for chartered status. However, Reg Brown,
president of the CII, has indicated it may consist of the existing
Certificate of Insurance
