Q: Why has the General Insurance Standards Council differentiated
between appointed agents, sub agents and introducers?


A: The GISC Rulebook contains provisions governing the appointment, by
member firms, of agents, sub agents and introducers. These provisions are
designed to reflect long-standing market practice and to define the
responsibilities to customers of the various parties, in what can often be
complex relationships.
