In the next couple of weeks, the General Insurance Standards Council
is expected to appoint PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young to handle
third-party monitoring of compliance.


The council has also admitted that it will not be ready to accept members
in February as originally intended.


PWC currently holds the ABI contract for monitoring of independent
intermediaries, and was widely tipped to get the GISC contract.
Professional Broking understands that it will have the lion's share of
monitoring
