The long-awaited Bain Report on the fire service published inDecember has suggested the fire service could clawback the costs of
assisting motorists at road accidents from motor insurers. The Association
of British Insurers said any such move would result in a further hike in
insurance premiums. Author of the report, Sir George Bain, has suggested
that such a move would bring the fire service in line with the National
Health Service.
