The House of Lords has stripped barristers of their legalimmunity.
Barristers can now be sued for negligence, both in and out of court.
The ruling is expected to have little effect on the indemnity market for
barristers, however, as they are covered by the Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund.
Organised by the Bar Council, the fund provides cover for up to £5m.
Top-up cover is available on the open market.
