Brokers will be able to access Skills Council guidance on which training courses will offer Financial Services Authority-compliant exams from mid-2004.
The FSA's CP 187 ruled that brokers will not have to pass a specific exam in order to sell insurance, meaning brokers will have to find appropriate exams themselves if they want to test employees' skills.
However, the Skills Council intends to identify the core competencies needed to meet the FSA's requirements and set a syllabus by mid-2004.
