Royal & SunAlliance has been downgraded by ratings agency Fitch over
fears for its future performance.


The group has been dropped from A- to a BBB+ rating because of concerns
about its ability to execute its strategy over the next 18 months. The
insurer needs to return its capital position to adequate levels.


RSA and brokers were unperturbed by the re-classification, however. Paul
Atkinson, UK communications director at RSA, said other ratings agencies
were more influential in the insurance market
