The General Insurance Standards Council has written to its members, reminding them that they cannot refuse to deal with non-members until 1 September. This is in response to the Competition Commission Appeal's Tribunal decision to hear the Institute of Insurance Brokers' final appeal.
The GISC's letter states: "In view of the current appeals before the Competition Commission Appeal Tribunal, GISC wishes to reconfirm that under its own rule book there is currently no regulatory requirement for
