NIG Skandia's acquisition of Hibernian Insurance UK will increase the
Swedish-owned insurer's gross written premium income by £48m.


The deal ends month of speculation about the future of Hibernian UK, which
was put on the market in February.


Details of the sale will not be known for another six to eight weeks as
the agreement is still subject to regulatory approval.


It is believed the Hibernian Group were looking for £30m, based on net
asset value, for the UK operation.
