American Express has set up an insurance company in the UK andtransferred the underwriting of its travel policies from Europ Assistance
to the new operation.
In June, the credit card company received approval from the Financial
Services Authority to set up a UK subsidiary of Swedish insurer Viator,
which is part of the American Express Group.
The new operation is based at American Express Insurance Services'
Brighton office and is being run by a team of five, recruited
internally.
