Tesco and Fortis invest £100m each in insurance partnership

Tesco Personal Finance and Fortis to form new partnership providing motor and household insurance.

Tesco Personal Finance and Fortis have concluded their discussions, previously announced on 25 June, to form a new partnership providing motor and household insurance.

The partnership will create 1,500 new jobs in the UK and give Tesco responsibility for retail pricing, sales and marketing, customer service and new product development. Fortis will provide underwriting and claims management.

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
