It's not often we get out at the CII, so when we do we need to make the most of it, writes Alasdair Stewart, head of business development, general insurance, at the Chartered Insurance Institute.

This week I was in Scotland for the local Biba conference and Manchester for the local institute dinner.

It was brilliant being back in Scotland - the conference was once again at Airth Castle near Falkirk and this year saw the largest turnout of brokers to the event. The day was fairly packed with top presentations, and as noted by Mark Cliff, the managing director at Ageas, an "okay one" from me.

The one element of consistency which became apparent in nearly all the presentations was
