Customers losing out

The most recent wave of consolidation could lead to a revamp of commission structures, which won’t be good for brokers or their clients, says Ian Stutz

Beware unintended consequences. In the modern world they are always with us. 

For instance, this is what the Cass Business School said of the major regulation overhaul facing the Financial Services industry back in 2013: 

“The unintended consequences of the RDR [Retail Distribution Review] initiative, accompanied by rapid change in technology and social media, is likely to further extend the ‘advice gap’.”  

We know what happened next.
