The market for commercial legal expenses insurance enters a distinctly uncertain 2009. The need for legal protection for many businesses has rarely seemed higher considering the bleak economic outlook, the prospect of falling sales, redundancies and the ever increasing burden of compliance with employment directives. At the same time, legal insurers may be nervous over a possible wave of costly claims, looking to higher premiums and prudent underwriting to guard their exposures.
