Rowan Atkinson racks up biggest-ever insurer car repair bill

Johnny English star Rowan Atkinson saw his insurer pay up the biggest-ever repair bill in Britain after crashing his McLaren F1, according to reports.

Mr Atkinson, 58, suffered a shoulder injury in 2011, when he crashed the £640,000 car, resulting in £910,000 worth of damage. 

The repair job was reportedly only given the go-ahead by the insurer due to the soaring value of F1s, with one selling for £3.5m last year. McLaren built just 64 road-going models.

It beat the previous record of £300,000 paid by Aviva to fix a smashed Pagani Zonda sports car in 2010.
